The Artist & The Artwork

Southern Maine with its wide variety of wonderful scenery is an excellent resource for painting! I enjoy working from life when possible but am also happy taking photos and trying to bring the scene back to life. I enjoy painting the coastline with its crashing waves, the rocky shore and the boats that help color the view.

Maine’s wonderful woods and gardens are also subjects, as well as some of the interesting old buildings and well known local scenes around Saco, Old Orchard Beach and Ocean Park., among other places.

At this time I work primarily in acrylic (on board). I also occasionally work in encaustic and rarely in pastel. There are many pastels still available.

Since I used to be an antiques dealer I have access to lovely old pottery and glassware and pretty pieces of lace and fabric. I love setting up still life arrangements with these old  pieces.

I am primarily self taught but over the years have taken several classes with local art teachers in Massachusetts and Maine, including Rosalie Sidoti and Roberta Thresher and Terry Ludwig.

I have painted figures and portraits with the Malden Sketch Group and am a member of Saco Bay Artists,  & Maine Women in the Arts.

In the summer I do some outdoor shows, Saco Bay Artists shows at Ocean Park and Art in the Park in South Portland. I have won awards and ribbons at these shows.

Artwork listed as being "In Private Collection" on this website, has been sold. Therefore it would not be available. Anything which has a price should be available, although honestly, I do occasionally miss updating. I am sorry if this happens!

The size listed will be the size of the actual artwork, not including any frame. If appropriate, artwork is sold framed, in a simple frame. Some pastels have mats, some do not. Many of the acrylics are done on "gallery panels" which are deep panels which are painted on the side and do not need to be framed.

If you are interested in anything or have any questions at all please contact me.
